Setting Up a Proxy Server in Windows
To configure proxy settings in Windows 10 and 11, follow these steps:
- Click the Start button, then go to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy.
- Windows offers three methods for configuring proxy settings: automatic configuration, scripting, or manual configuration.
To Automatically Set Up a Proxy Server:
- Within the proxy settings, tick the checkbox to enable automatic configuration.
- Enabling this option prompts Windows to utilize the Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Protocol (WPAD) for the automatic identification of authorized proxy server settings. This functionality is frequently employed by organizations to manage and safeguard internal networks, ensuring controlled access and safeguarding digital assets.
- For personal computer use or those who prefer manual proxy server configuration, you have the option to deactivate this setting. Doing so grants you control over proxy server setup, allowing you to input the necessary details based on your preferences.
To Manually Configure the Proxy Server:

Configuring Proxy Servers Using Legacy Windows Settings
These steps are relevant for all Windows versions, encompassing Windows 7, 8, and earlier iterations. They offer advanced options that are absent in the Settings application of Windows 10 and 11. To set up proxy settings:
- Click on Control Panel > Network and Internet > Internet Options
- In the Internet Properties window, click the Connections tab and select Local Area Network Settings.
- Choose the "Use a proxy server for the local network" option, then click the Advanced button.

You can also specify the type of proxy (HTTP or SOCKS). These proxy settings are consistent with the settings specified in the previous section and are applied system-wide. If you fill in any field here, it will also be displayed in the Settings app for Windows 10 and 11 users. - Open a web browser to verify the authenticity of the proxy settings. Enter the Stableproxy sub-user credentials and log in. Use the same credentials that you specified when creating a new subuser in the Stableproxy panel.
