Easy to set up a proxy server in Edge Browser
To ensure privacy, access restricted content, and protect devices from malicious requests, the use of a proxy server is essential for many businesses. Fortunately, integrating a proxy with the Microsoft Edge browser is a simple and straightforward process. Follow the instructions below to quickly and easily integrate your proxy with Microsoft Edge.
To start configuring proxies in Microsoft Edge, follow these steps:
- Open the Microsoft Edge browser.
- Find the three dots in the upper right corner of the browser window.
- Click "Settings".
- In the profile and configuration settings, enter "proxy" in the search bar.
- Then select "Open your computer's proxy settings" from the search results.
- Go to the Windows proxy server settings page. To complete the integration, please refer to the Windows Proxy Setup Guide for detailed instructions.
Disabling proxy settings in Microsoft Edge
You can easily disable proxy settings in Microsoft Edge using command line options. Just type the command "-no-proxy-server" to tell Microsoft Edge not to use a proxy server. It is important to note that this command will override any other proxy settings that may be set. For more detailed information, you can refer to Microsoft's official advice on this topic.
Setting up a proxy server in Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer, although no longer supported, is still used by some organizations that have not yet migrated to other browsers. However, it is strongly recommended that you switch to Microsoft Edge, which has an Internet Explorer mode to support legacy settings. If you are still using Internet Explorer and want to increase your privacy and security with proxy servers, you can follow the same steps as below.
Note that these settings will apply to the entire system, not just Internet Explorer.
1. Click on the icon with the image of a gear (⚙️) and go to the "Internet Options" section.
2.Internet Explorer will redirect you to Windows Internet Options. From there, you can continue with the steps described in the "Configuring proxies using legacy Windows settings" section of the guide to configuring proxies in Windows.
