What is it?
Data center (server) proxies differ in that they work with IP addresses provided by hosting companies and organizations with their own data centers. Such proxies are characterized by high throughput and long-term, stable operation. This is due to the features of data centers and their high performance and capacity. These proxies operate in the same way as alternative types — based on specialized software. However, they have several features, including:
- deployment based on a real or virtual server after paying for the provider's services and receiving an IP;
- the server can operate independently or as part of more complex systems;
- the used addresses do not affect connections with private device owners; they are oriented towards working with websites/apps;
- some platforms may block addresses if they detect numerous views through proxies (this does not affect regular users connecting directly through their provider);
- anyone can rent and configure a proxy to ensure a fast and stable connection and to achieve specific goals (although addresses are allocated from shared traffic and attract the attention of security systems).
Server proxies have numerous advantages, including high speed, broad bandwidth, affordability, stable connection, the ability for long-term use and integration with other proxies, as well as fulfilling any business tasks. However, such addresses are easily identifiable and often blocked.
Application possibilities
There are several ways to use such proxies for business:
- Website parsing/data collection. This is an affordable way to extract information from various sites. However, constant IP checks against spam lists are required, which can make the process less comfortable.
- Caching/distribution of content. Any information can be transmitted through proxies. Sometimes this includes all traffic, and sometimes only part of it. Media files and constant content can also be redistributed to other servers or delivery networks to reduce data volume and server load. Caching helps save provider bandwidth and client traffic through compression.
- Bypassing geolocation restrictions. The widespread distribution of servers allows bypassing blocks.
- Service and application testing. Proxies enable load testing and bug detection. Server proxies can also solve other personal tasks, including checking website rankings, searching for advantageous offers, logging into online games, bypassing local restrictions, etc. Alternatives to data center proxies include mobile, resident, and corporate proxies, each with their own features, advantages, and disadvantages.
Useful recommendations
For effective use of data center proxies, it is recommended to:
- Use proxies mainly for personal purposes (preferably for working with large amounts of data), as this is not the most reliable option for automation.
- Monitor the quality of traffic and automated requests (it is recommended to observe longer delays between requests).
- Avoid choosing data center proxies for major business tasks, as there is a high risk of errors and problems. Instead, it is better to use alternative options.
